Dignity Not Delay: Stand with Black Workers in Long Beach
Right now in Long Beach, Black workers are speaking up about something many have experienced for years but too often goes unheard: inequity, discrimination, and barriers to advancement inside City systems.
The numbers tell part of the story. Black workers are represented in the workforce, but not in higher-paying roles at the same rate. Behind those numbers are real people navigating unfair conditions, limited opportunity, and systems that haven’t delivered on their promise of equity.
Workers have raised concerns through internal channels, shared their experiences publicly, and taken legal action when those systems failed to respond. This moment didn’t come out of nowhere. It’s the result of people pushing for dignity, fairness, and accountability.
That’s why the Long Beach Black Worker Center is supporting the #DignityNotDelay campaign.
We are calling on the City to move beyond acknowledgment and into action. Commitments have been made. Studies have been done. Now it’s time to follow through.
We also stand with Anthony Holmes and all Black workers who have had the courage to speak out and demand change. Their voices matter, and they should not have to stand alone.
If you believe in fair workplaces, accountability, and the basic dignity every worker deserves, we invite you to take one simple step.
Add your name. Stand with Black workers.
